Saint Players Duarte & Robba' make Gibraltar Squad
Congratulations to Saints players John Paul Duarte and Jamie Robba having been called-up for the International squad to face Estonia7on the 7th October 2017. JP Duarte has fired his way back into contention with 10 goals in the league last season to help St Joseph’s up to third place and helped the club into Europa League football. They’ll need Duarte to keep his form up, which in turn will make it likely he adds to his nine caps for the national team since 2013. Jamie Robba, has been played well for the saints since his return from a loan move to Torquay United last season.
JANUARY TRANSFER DEADLINE 2018
Match Report: St Joseph’s FC 3-1 Manchester 62 FC
St Joseph’s kicked-off the 2nd half of the season in style. After a mid-season break which saw the Victoria Stadium being re-layed with 3G astroturf, the Saints where testing every inch of the pitch during the match against Manchester 62. St Joseph’s have been busy in the January transfer window, bringing new signings such as Pedro from CD Estepona, and re-signing Cantizano from Mons Calpe. Local Gibraltarian Players Nathan Santos and Dexter Panzavechia also featured in the match. It was certainly evident during the match that St Joseph’s have a little more quality in their play, which was lacking during the first half of the season. Saints were already 1-0 up within 10 minutes and continued to dominate in the first half. The 2nd half started off with Manchester trying to push forward, but this left gaps at the back of Manchester’s defence and they were punished when Lobabto came on in the 2nd half providing a cross for saints midfielder Conejo to tap in on the goal line and make it 2-0. Nathan Santos was introduced towards the end and his pace on the left wing was noticeable straight away. The Saints continued to dominate and up stepped Saint midfield general Boro to make it 3-0. Some sloppy defensive mistake by Saint Defender Fran lost the ball in the 85th minute for Manchester to get a consolation goal and make the final score 3-1 on the night. St Joseph’s will be happy with 3 points and take the positives out of the game. Although they will be coming up against tougher opposition during the rest of the season, so will need to focus on not making mistakes.
NEXT MATCH: St Joseph’s FC are next in action versus Glacis United FC, KO 18:15hrs, on Saturday 10th February 2018 at Victoria Stadium, Gibraltar.
