January 2017 new signings

St Joseph’s FC have completed the signings of midfielder José Miguel Caballero Lorenzo & defender Samuel Fernández Aragón from Chiclana Club de Fútbol alongside Jamie Robba from Torquay Utd, and Tarik Chrayeh from Lions Gibraltar FC on loan.

PROCOPIO TAKES HIS FIRST TRAINING SESSION

Procopio took has arrived and took his first training session as the Saints new head coach, along with his assistant Guillermo De Castro Maqueda. He arrived and spoke to the team behind closed doors before starting the session.

The team were introduced to the type of Procopio’s training sessions, which should give them that extra much needed strength to see them heading towards third place, which guarantees them Europa League qualifiers competition.

 

UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE EXTRA PLACE FOR 2017 SEASON

Gibraltar has been allocated an extra place in the Europa League for next season. This means that as the end of this season, 3 Gibraltar clubs will qualify for European competition.
League champions will enter the champions league, with rock cup winners and league runners up taking the Europa League entries. If the rock cup winners finish in the top two, then the 2nd in Europa League slots will be allocated to the team finishing in 3rd place.
 St Joseph’s FC were delighted when they heard the news as they finished 3rd this year. This means there is now a bigger incentive now to challenge for another European Place. RAUL PROCOPIO JOINS ST JOSEPH'S FC

St Joseph’s FC Gibraltar would like to officially announce the appointment of Raul Procopio as the Saints new head coach on a long-term contract, along with his assistant. Club Director Stuart Rodriguez was present at the official presentation and stated “We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Mr Procopio to join the Club’s long-term project. We hope that with hard work and dedication he can help us reach our future Club ambitions”.

Raul Procopio said ” I am very excited to be returning to Gibraltar after two highly successful seasons with my previous local club. The opportunity to manage Gibraltar’s Oldest and iconic Club was too big to turn down and I am delighted to have reached an agreement after discussing the Club’s future plans with its owners and I can’t wait to get started with what is an excellent group of players and an institution of a Club like St Joseph’s. With everyone’s help I will give my utmost to try and make this Club successful in the near future”.

ST JOSEPHS PLAYERS MAKE THE U19 NATIONAL TEAM

Congratulations to Michael Negrette, Cecil Prescott and Jamie Serra on being selected for Gibraltar u19 squad for upcoming UEFA u19 qualifying matches in Albania. Group contains Albania, Rep of Ireland and Germany.
Games played on the 6th v Germany, 8th v Rep of Ireland and 11th October v Albania. All of St Josephs football club wish the three of you good luck and enjoy.

COACHING STAFF PART WAYS WITH ST JOSEPH'S FC

Alfonso Cortijo and the back-room coaching staff have parted ways with St Joseph’s FC. This is following the resignation of the manager to further his managerial career in the Chinese Super League. The coaching staff decided to review their future at the club following this announcement and decided to part ways with the Club from immediate effect. It is expected the new manager, ex Lincoln Red Imps manager Raul Procopio will be unveiled as the new St Joseph’s FC manager on Thursday 22nd December 2016. A club spokesperson said ‘Procopio and his coaching team bring a wealth of experience with them to the club and we look to build on the good work Alfonso Cortijo has done to take the club further forward’.
